Hello

I am a freelance pianist and private piano teacher serving the Lynchburg, VA area. I enjoy performing and teaching music from a variety of genres and hope to inspire a passion for music in the next generation.

My Story

From an early age, I remember being fascinated with anything that involved music. I received my first taste of playing the piano through my grandmother, who was my first piano teacher and gifted me my own piano. As I grew older and more experienced, I was given many opportunities to perform as a pianist at church and at end of the school year piano recitals. My passion for the piano inspired me to study music at Liberty University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance degree and a Master of Arts in Music Education: Performance degree. While I mainly studied classical music during this time, I have a love and appreciation for all genres of music including worship, pop, jazz, and film. As a performer, I hope to bring joy and encouragement to people through the music I play at special events and celebrations, such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, funerals, and church services. Furthermore, I enjoy collaborating with other artists through piano duos and ensembles and serving as an accompanist for vocalists and solo instrumentalists.

While much of my experience as a musician has focused on performance, I have also begun developing a private piano studio. I am forever grateful to the piano teachers and professors that have taught and encouraged me as a musician, and it is my goal to serve as a guide and inspiration for the next generation of pianists. When teaching my students, I strive to provide a well-rounded education that includes instruction not only in piano technique and performance, but also in music theory and musicianship. During my undergraduate degree, I developed an interest in teaching music theory and helping students understand the nuts and bolts of how music works. I believe that the act of making music brings even more joy when a student can fully invest themselves in the music logically, emotionally, and artistically. Above all else, I hope to share the love of Christ with everyone I meet through teaching and performing.
